PURE LIVE JORMA

Between sets with Hot Tuna, Jorma played hundreds of solo acoustic shows in the late 70s and early 80s. I caught many shows (including this one) and was captured by the blues and the finger picking. It's simple: If you love Acoustic Hot Tuna - you should own this. Great sound from a small venue in NYC, and a great price (25 songs for $9.99!).

Jorma's still out there with Jack. Go see Tuna and enjoy this live set.

Like the strong, sturdy foundation of a new building, it is the basics that provide the structure of greatness to be. Not that there was any question of Jorma's greatness from his beginnings in the Airplane, but this show and the many others performed in the early 80's deliver the strength of Jorma's playing and are surely not to be missed. It is so fantastic to see these reel-to-reel shows I use to collect now being mastered and offered digitally. Do yourself a favor and get this one before it is too late. And please please please, offer up more from this period.

This is one of those lost gems from, Jormas Solo acoustic period.. after putting Hot Tuna to bed for a while,. we were treated to just Jorma. for a few years,, Jorma seemed to be playing in Ny almost all the time.. the old lone star..my fathers place,, and places like the Ritz.. We were at this show,,he just went off. and hit the zone, and found that.. place. some amazing playing through out this show.. on certain songs, playing through Phase shifters and effects.. its not just pure acoustic per say.. of note Hamar promenade,Serpent,Police dog blues,, Shepard .. 25 songs here for what 10 bucks,, if you were catching Jorma shows back than its a bargain,, if not buy this and listen.. you will not be sorry... Jorma/Tuna are not for everybody but most folks that like it tend to really like this. real nice sound quality, back than the crowds tended to be a bit.. er enthusiastic( if you were around than you know) and you can feel it on this tape.. . a nice treat for sure,, glad you released this... thanks

Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Jorma Kaukonen was born and grew up in Washington, D.C., where he first turned to the guitar. He lived in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early '60s, playing backup to singer Janis Joplin in local clubs. In 1965, Kaukonen became a founding member of Jefferson Airplane, which soared to fame in 1967. Though Kaukonen's songs and vocals were not prominently featured in the band, his distinctive guitar-playing was crucial to its sound. With bassist Jack Casady, Kaukonen...
