Album Review

Another set recorded at Harrah's in Lake Tahoe, 200 M.P.H. is a bit more disjointed than previous efforts, a little bit more "groovy," and a little bit less heartwarming. There are a few battle of the sexes-type bits, and a battle of the pets number. The title track, appearing last on the disc and nearly 23 minutes in length, is taken up by a discussion of the world's fastest sports cars and Cosby's quest for something faster than anything Steve McQueen, Rovi

200 M.P.H

Bill Cosby's true comedian comes out in the 200 mph track becuase he totally improvises with the audience. I dont know abou everyone else, but i think that is the sign of a very giften comedian. Another one of Bill Cosby's hilarious albums. i suggest that you dont hesitate to buy it!

I bought this album in the '60s as a kid!

This is one of the best Bill Cosby albums — ever! Although Bill strays from his family humor for the bulk of the album, the 200 MPH skit is very funny! Why do people buy super-fast sports cars? To show off? maybe... But you cannot deny there are other reasons for buying a Ferrari or Lotus. My advice? Sample each track for the free 30 second clip. Evaluate each clip in light of Bill's history and record. I think you'll buy this one!

Great comedy from the archives

I've been looking for 200 M.P.H. for years, but all I've been able to find are shady looking tapes. This is old Cosby at his best - it is just as relevant today as it was in `68. Not "nice" Bill from the 80's; a little edgier and darker. Add this to your comedy collection. It'll stand up well next to "A Wild and Crazy Guy" (Steve Martin) and "Here and Now" (Richard Pryor).

Although African-American comedians had long been a staple of the standup circuit prior to the emergence of Bill Cosby, none had come even remotely close to reaching the same heights of commercial success or universal acceptance. Before Cosby, black comics were largely relegated to the so-called "chitlin circuit" of black nightclubs and theaters, their albums banned from white-owned record stores; after Cosby, comedians of all racial and cultural backgrounds found a home in the mainstream, and were...
