Album Review
While never reaching the stratospheric heights of their R&B/disco contemporaries, One Way was the underdog everyone rooted for yet could never figure out a way into the circle of champions. The dynamic duo of Al Hudson and Alicia Myers were the nervous system of the group, but it's inarguable that One Way's furious sound and unique production sensibilities became its heart and soul. This 20th Century Masters collection not only assembles the group's finest moments into an enjoyable survey, but also features two solo endeavors from Myers and Hudson, respectively. It's just as every bit enjoyable as any other One Way collection out there, if not more so due to its concise thoroughness. Essential for fans of the group, and a great way to explore one of the woefully underrated R&B treasures of the '70s and '80s.
Customer Reviews
POP IT!!!!
Ahhh the days before hip-hop....a true gem of the "house music" days..funk with the club beat at its best. Alicia Myers voice was truly remarkable. If only music can come back to its funk, jazz, club roots of the late 70's early 80's.
This Album Missed One Star Because....
I am happy that this album includes Alicai Myers but her song, I Want to Thank You, was her biggest club hit and it was omitted from this album. What a shame!
Only "One Way" to Jam...
One Way's greatest hits take you back to the jams; "Cutie Pie," "Pop It," and of course "Push" makes you want to go down the Soul Train line. This is a good CD. Take me out of here "Mr Groove" with a "Pull Fancy Dancer." What a HOT groove.
