Golden Delicious
This is a remake of the wonderful song 27 Jennifers, which was featured on his self-produced Skittish/Rockity Roll double-cd. This is a single from the new and upcoming album titled "Golden Delicious." The new album has been produced by the producer of his first album under ATO Records, Dan Wilson. The album is completed, but will not release until February 19th, 2008.

I feel that Mike Doughty's is probably one of the best musicians around today but I am wondering why he remade and rereleased this song. The original is one of my favorites and I dont feel it needed rework. Is there a new album?
Not Sure About Doughty's Direction...
I too am a big Doughty fan (was a bigger Soul Coughing fan) and loved his early work, including 27 Jennifers. I was mildly disappointed with Haughty Melodic and this reworking of 27 Jennifers troubles me further. It's certainly not bad, but perhaps a bit more bland. That's largely my complaint with the trajectory his career's taking. Soul Coughing was undoubtedly groundbreaking and impossible to replicate, but even his early solo stuff (and especially the tour with "Doveman" Thomas Bartlett) had a uniqueness to it the newer material seems to lack.
