2nd Hands
Great keyboards(U.K., Wakeman) with a nice jazz prog fusion sound.The vocals are a little distracting but the album is well worth a listen.
Prog Rock with Barbed Hooks!
Like professional-level jazz, this type of progressive rock music is tough act to pull off well without sounding like, well, Elmer Fudd in concert. However, although not perfect, this group has some great moments on this album - actually – fantastic moments. This music has great variety and it has been done very well, and I do think it will outshine most of the competition with its really cool style, its wonderful flow and rhythm, its enigmatic electricity, its frolicking fandangos, its multiplicity of instruments and sounds, those unexpected and constant change-ups, all of which lead you to bite hard on those well-baited and barbed hooks. Yeah, well, about those hooks…. whenever you find yourself listening over and over to an album, you know you have a winner, and so I give this album that pleasurable distinction, and so it’s no wonder it was nominated for a progressive music award in 2007.
One thing is for sure – this group is not afraid to blaze a few well-crafted trails in the wild and wooly wilderness of prog rock…. You can tell these guys (and gals) have the knack for this type of thing, and I therefore look forward to their future ascendency with more intriguing and palatable offerings to surpass even this one.
Oh yeah, one more thing…. I love those Emerson-like keyboard surfing licks!
