Album Review

This after-the-fact compilation from one of the last hard rock bands to make any sort of impression before the alt-rock revolution made most of it meaningless does its job, limited as it is, fairly well. All the hit singles that Sebastian Bach and company cranked out during their brief run of superstardom are here; none particularly holds up out of its era. Still, if having "Youth Gone Wild," "18 and Life," "I Remember You," and "Monkey Business" in one compact package means something to you, then Forty Seasons is that album.

The only bad thing about Angel Down is that Axl is on the album. The dudes a talentless piece of arrogant S**T!!! Bach rules!!!

BETTER THAN I REMEMBER!

I never paid too much attention to Skid Row back in the day, then one day while watching MTV (you know, when they used to play MUSIC VIDEOS!), I caught Monkey Business, and I was hooked. Much harder than the hair bands of the time (ahem...POISON), these guys were the real deal of hard rock, and nobody rocked it harder or better than Sebastian Bach, what an incredible voice. Get the album, and enjoy.

Skid Row has always been a heavy metal band that were a cut above the rest. All their songs had heart and fiery passion. This collection contains one of my favorite metal songs of all time - I Remember You. The video was awesome and it had a bleak desolate feel to it. The homeless man wandering the park and the streets looking at pictures of a love long lost. Until he finally abandons hope and burns them in the fire. To this day I've never heard a heavy metal song that invoked these kinds of emotions. For that alone Skid Row should have their place among heavy metal's elite. Another personal favorite of mine, Quicksand Jesus is on here as well. As well as other cuts from the outstanding Slave To The Grind album. Skid Row has always had a quality about them that separated them from their peers and their music has stood the test of time with me.

Skid Row were one of the very last hair metal bands to hit the mainstream before grunge took over in the early '90s. While the band's self-titled debut employed standard pop-metal riffs and generic lyrics (albeit to great commercial success), 1991's Slave to the Grind and 1995's Subhuman Race broke away...
