iTunes Review
The tunes included on the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack reflect the emotional heights and depths of this wistfully romantic film. Bittersweet pop predominates here, with a little angst added for spice. The Smiths — a key reference point in the movie — set the right tone of obsessive longing with “There is a Light That Never Goes Out” and “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want.” The latter is transformed into a billowy torch song by She & Him, featuring the film’s co-star Zooey Deschanel. The many complications of true love are captured in the nervous expressions of Regina Spektor (“Us,” “Hero”), the glistening, falsetto-filled effusions of the Temper Trap (“Sweet Disposition”), the brooding blues-rock of Wolfmother (“Vagabond”) and the serene, hook-laden pop of Mumma-Ra (“She’s Got You High”). Meaghan Smith’s beguiling cover of the Pixies’ “Here Comes Your Man” is a special treat. Though many of these songs are available elsewhere, they combine here to create a very appealing Summer music mix.

Great, but wait!
July 28 is when iTunes is dropping the expanded album with Zooey's version of Sugar Town and a couple of songs.
iTunes, Please!!
I am a huge fan of Mumm-Ra, and when I saw that they had "She's Got You High" on this soundtrack, I hoped you would put all their other stuff up. It's on iTunes UK, but why not U.S.? I won't buy the whole album (I have half the songs), but it would be very convenient if Mumm-Ra could be accesible to americans! Thanks!
A Wonderful Collection
I was lucky enough to see this movie a few months ago at a film festival, and I was completely enchanted by it. This soundtrack takes me right back to that. It is an outstanding collection of songs that set a nice mood and perfectly represent the movie. There are old favorites (like The Smiths and Hall & Oates) cleverly paired with some new finds (like The Temper Trap) that have me listening to this soundtrack again and again. I highly recommend it.
