Great balls of fire

NO NO NO Non of the original recordings be afraid be very afraid

To the infamous reviewer who keeps insulting people and using the nonword 'monotone' all the time. Welcome to 'you're wrong night'. There is no need to keep insulting users who have a legitimate problem with paying good money to get the wrong track. If you can hear no other difference between two recordings other than the production values you need an education if not just in music appreciation, then manners. Your reviews seem to exist for the sole purpose of seeking out negative reviews and insulting their authors, rather than actually reviewing the album, which in your case consists of invariably praising modern recording technology, attacking original recordings and incorrectly using the word 'monotone'. For what it's worth, the reviewer does that to many similar records, and attacks reviewers. In the Internet community this is called 'being a troll'. I don't know what purpose it serves, but I do know it poisons the information. When I was very young, I, too, used to buy substandard records like that based on the garbage musings of tonedeaf reviewers who cared only for production values and not for musical authenticity or quality. I was tone deaf and innocent. Then I sourced the original recordings and found out what utter trash I had spent my time listening to. These records exist for the sake of providing muzak, and to make a quick buck. These will never be played on the radio. With a comp like this, they usually scrape the bottom of the barrel and find the cheapest re-recordings possible. The most common reason for not including an original version is because of copyrights. Often it is much cheaper to rerecord than it is to obtain the rights to publish an original version. ps I am not affiliated with k-tel

Original Artists Maybe -- Not the Original Recordings!

I was looking for the Purple People Eater version that is permanently implanted on my eardrums: Sheb Wooley is the original artist. But this was recorded later and I was very disappointed -- not what I thought I'd purchased. There is no warning that it is re-recorded, and the clip avoids the tell-tale parts of the song. Only after I paid for it and downloaded it did I realize I'd been duped! Sheb's voice is older and more wavery in this recording. The new purple people eater isn't as cool as the old one. Whoever did the new recording didn't understand the meaning of the slang "tough" and botched it. All of us who were listening when these songs hit the charts know what they should sound like. What we are hearing now has simply lost its cool. To someone who is younger and never heard the song, maybe you'll like it because you don't have the pleasure of knowing what it is *supposed* to sound like. But for the sake of music history -- I do wish iTunes could get it right. This has happened to me too many times and I'm getting peeved.
