Album Review
Since neither Chestnut Street Incident nor The Kid Inside generated much attention, Johnny Cougar's third album, A Biography, wasn't released in America. Ironically, it was his best effort yet, featuring a harder and genuinely rocking backbeat and, in the silly but catchy "I Need a Lover," his first good song. The rest of the album didn't even come close to matching those heights, yet the song indicated that Mellencamp had talent — he just wasn't sure how to access it. [This reissue of the album includes the U.K. single version of "I Need a Lover" as a bonus track.]

Not Bad
I wouldn't say one of his best but it is closer to one of the best albums ever made "nothin matters and what if it did" nothing will ever compare to that album!!
His BEST Album!
In my opinion, this was John's best album. It's raw, but the instrumentals and his soaring voice of the time make this, in my mind, his best album. Buy it for sure!
Best Album?
I am a huge Mellencamp Fan - this is by far one of his worst records - by his own admission Mellencamp thought his early records were horrible. Best albums, come on. Did you guys ever listen to Scarecrow or Lonesome Jubilee, just to name two. You want prime Mellencamp, listen to Minutes to Memories, enough said.
