iTunes Review

It’s hard to go wrong when you’re working with a voice as passionate at Keyshia Cole’s. The productions on A Different Me are as varied as those on Just Like You, but this time around they feel even more tailored to Cole’s personality. The jazzy inventions of “Make Me Over” sacrifice nothing of the singer’s unwavering attitude, while the pure simmering drama of “Erotic” and “Where This Love Could End Up” are second to none. Other songs place Cole in the tradition of performers that preceded her. “No Other” and “Trust” exemplify the torrential, all-encompassing love songs that Cole learned from studying Mary J. Blige. Meanwhile, “Please Don’t Stop” and “Thought You Should Know” recall the hypnotic electro-inflected R&B on which Cole was raised in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. The album’s centerpiece is “Playa Cardz Right,” which features an excavated 2Pac verse. Usually a posthumous 2Pac verse seems like a cheap way to cash in, but Cole is one of the few singers who can comfortably commune with Tupac’s spirit, not only because of their shared Oakland heritage but because their art is drawn from the same wellspring of woundedness.

KEYSHIA DID IT AGAIN

Keyshia Cole is a platinum selling artist with hit after hit. She exploded on the scene with her hit single "I just want it to be over" produced by Kanye West off the first album "The way it is". The album went platinum and spawned other hits as well. They she came out with her second album "Just like you". It als went platinum and spawned so many hits. Now it is 2008 and Keyshia has released a new ablum entitled "A different me". Now I know people are scared. Damn girl dont change on us. We love your songs bout heartbreak. You sing them with so much passion. Dont worry though cause she did change but in a good way. The album opens with an intro "A different me Intro". Now this is her telling you that you will witness a sexier side to her. The second song "Make me over" is so different from whats shes done. With the big band behind her she showcases her big voice which is sultry and beautiful. "Please dont stop" is a fun song. Its about love but the beat gives me a whole old day vibe. It is cute and addictive. "Erotic" is something different as well. It is so cool to listen to it with its cool little fun beat. It makes u feel sexy as you listen to it. "You complete me" is her second single off her album. By the title we know what the song is about. The beat isnt anything great but the song is pretty and her voice is amazing here. "No other" featuring Amina Harris who we know from her other song from her second CD "Shoulda let you go" is a great fun song. No other man can love me the way you do. The beat is sick and Keyshia is great here, Starting off silky and then hitting the notes we love at the end. Amina killed the rap as well. "Oh Oh, Yeah Yea" featuring Nas is an okay song at first but as you listen more often it grows hard on you. Nas is great on here as usual. Keyshia is ok but not as great as the other songs before it. "Playa cardz right" featuring 2pac is a great song. She took it back with the old school vibe. Using his rap was classic and it is a hit classic song. They both kill this song its great. RIP 2pac...you are great "Brand new" is a slow song. When I say slwo I mean it is slow. But it is good cause she is very sexual here and it is sexy as side of her we never heard before. It works though. "Trust" with fellow ATL friend Monica is a classic. OMG. This song is so beautiful and Monica and KC (which is the name Keyshia refers to herself on this song as she talks to monica on the phone) kill this song. OMG the song starts off nice and mellow with the vocales but at the end they blow the song out thw water hitting note after note together. It is a classic damn it...I got goosebumps right now...DAMN... "Thought you should know" this is one of my favs right after "Trust and Make me over". This song is a smooth beat cause the song is sick with the lyrics. The chorus goes: You just know/know/its going to take more then one drink to get me home/ i know you didnt ask but i thought you should know/. Damn I love this fun song about going to a club and this sexy guy wants tot ake you home but you aint having it. Keys kills this song...Work it girl... "This is us" this song is so amazing. This is what you call a love song at its finest. Im like a Sunday morning/your like Friday night/ and we kiss it makes the perfect weekend/ no rain in sight/ and when I feel incomplete/ you;re my missing piece and when you need your breath taken away i will be your thieve/. This is so beautiful. The songs goes on to talk bout how they not perfect but they so right together and this is us and how we love...OMG LOVE THIS SONG... "Where this love could end" this song is not a good song to me. Too hard of a beat and her voice is too low for me here. Oh well they all cant be great "Beautiful Music" is a good song with a nice catchy beat that you will recongnize anytime you hear it. It is a nice song. Not great but worth a listen. "A different me Outro" here she thanks you for buying the album and taking the journey with her. Final Verdict: This album is full of love songs fun and mellow. Dont be worried people cause her voice is still in tact..maybe even a little strong then before. This is a hit album for everyone to have. Great from song one to the last one. Go girl you killed it again...

Simply Amazing!!!

Another amazing album from Keyshia...she just never fails! "A Different Me" flows beautifully from one song to the next...I love it! Keyshia gives us R&B at it's best. My favorite songs are: "Please Don't Stop," "Erotic," "No Other," "Brand New," "Trust" and "This Is Us." Out of those, I really hope she makes "Trust," "Brand New" or "This Is Us" the next singles. I'm so glad she did a duet with Monica, cause they sound amazing together...probably one of the best duets this year! And even thought number 1 and 15 are only a couple of minutes long, I love the "A Different Me" Intro and Outro. Great job Keyshia...this album is a Must Buy!!!

Change '08!

Love Keyshia Cole for taking risks and having fun with this album. It's entertaining, energetic, and enjoyable. Who says change isn't good?

Biography

Born: October 15, 1981 in Oakland, CA

Genre: R&B/Soul

Years Active: '00s, '10s

One of the more genuine urban songstresses to emerge in the 2000s, Keyshia Cole worked her way up the industry ladder diligently yet quickly, making her major-label debut in 2004 at age 21. Born on the other side of the California Bay — the often tough and troubled streets of Oakland — Cole aspired from an early age to make music her life, so much so that she started working the angles while still a preteen. For instance, she did some recording with fellow Bay Area resident MC Hammer...
