Album Review
Tracey Thorn's solo album sounds pretty much like what it is—a transition from the ramshackle Marine Girls to the much more sophisticated Everything but the Girl. A Distant Shore is a low-key affair, simply played on delicate acoustic and electric guitars. The focal point, of course, is Tracey's voice and it is quite lovely as she ambles her way through eight understated originals and apropos covers of the Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" and Cole Porter's "Night & Day."

wonderful cd....
I love Tracey Thorn's music. Her voice is so dreamy and pure. This CD is beautiful and my favorite song is "dreamy". All of the songs are great though. If you want to really get in a mellow and sensual mood, download "Night and Day" by Everything But The Girl. I cant stop listening to this CD!!!!

Good god, I haven't heard this album since around 1986, and it's still as brilliant as I remember back then. Absolutely beautiful in it's simplicity. I always loved the backing vocals she did on my favourite Go-Betweens LP, "Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express", loved EBGT, lovely voice on her, great stuff altogether!
