The Best Christmas Album
This CD, for me, is what Christmas music is all about. My mother always plays this CD and it is one of her favorites. As a little kid I would always ask for her to play it as soon as the Christmas season began. There are few things that really mean "Christmas" to me, and this CD is one of them. All of the Mannheim Steamroller albums are good, and indeed, I own them all. However, this one stands out as the best. Not completely electronic and not completely accoustic, Chip Davis blends the two mediums together to create a gorgeous Christmas ensemble. I love the use of period instruments on pieces like In Dulci Jubilo and The Holly and the Ivy - two amazing arrangements. Carol of the Bells is probably the best version out there, and Veni Veni is so haunting, so gregorian and period in sound, that I have yet to hear any other version that rivals it. Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming is a phenomenal arrangement and the contrapuntal brass sections are really fun to listen to. Traditions of Christmas, an original Chip Davis piece, has become a Christmas standard for me. I highly recommend this album for any lover of Christmas music. It will blow you away.
Mannheim to the Floor
This album is one of his greatest! After going to one of his concerts in my home town, this is bound to be some of his best work. Mannheim is a powerful and moving artist and is a musical genius. I believe that you should look in to some of these songs because they might inspire you like they did me. I believe that he has his ups and downs, and I have my favorites but they all are good and appealing.
Great CD
Carol of Bells is awesome, you must hear Little Drummer Boy, Hark the Herald Angels sing is cool. All in all, a great CD..
