Awesome!
I love this album! The kids love this album. From the deep in a Grateful Dead jam first song to the jazzy and humorous take on Greensleeves at the end, this whole disc pulls you into Ben Rudnick and Friends world and makes you better off along the way. There are too many musical styles to even tag this album with a genre. You'll find songs inflected with "tribal jam," doo-wop, bluegrass, pop, all the way to a couple of Irish Jigs. Miraculously it all runs into one seamless experience. The constant request is for the title song, A Frog Named Sam, but the others contribute to make this CD an enjoyable event. So far... we've put it in and we haven't taken it out. Do yourself a favor and get this disc as your first Ben Rudnick and Friends disc. THEN, get the others!
Top Notch!
While BR&F's music is in the Children's genre, this music appeals to anyone with an appreciation for great music. This band has been recording and performing together for years and they've clearly hit their stride. Frog Named Sam hits on all cylinders: Outstanding harmonies, clever lyrics, tight playing and production values topped off with a pleasant mix of influences (rock, bluegrass, folk...to name a few). There's a lot of mediocre "children's music" out there. BR&F stands head and shoulders above the rest. Buy this album and catch them live if you can!!!
