Album Review

The second release of their EP trilogy, (A)fternoon delivers another dose of Mae's ultra-positive, sunny alt-rock. To go along with the band's dedication to its charitable works and community outreach programs, the album has a very inspirational feeling. “Communication” easily sweeps the listener up with its simple rhythms and singalong choruses, inviting them to become a part of the movement Mae are putting into motion. The other songs on the EP possess the same kind of momentum, combining accessibility and pathos to create songs that hook you in both musically and emotionally. (A)fternoon should have no trouble pleasing Mae devotees, and despite being an EP, the album has a consistent musical vision that makes it an easy listen for the uninitiated, so newcomers shouldn't have a problem finding something to like.

Virtuous

The second ep release in the (m)(a)(e) trilogy. (A)fternoon is technical and funky. It's all about the music in this one, where the lyrics have powerful meaning which is fantastic and such but I feel like the wordplay wasn't as satisfying as seen in some of the other albums. This; however, is easily redeemed by the skillful instrumentation. The song Communication is worth a listen as it seems to be a sequel to The Fisherman Song from the previous album. A+ ep

Very relaxed

I really appreciate the originality of actually putting a recording of just nature on an album... God's music

Superb

This album is one of the most artistic of our time. You will need a good pair of headphones to appreciate it though. This album does not pander, and it is best listened to all the way through late at night when you're feeling creative.
