Customer Reviews

concerning the ITunes review

I don't understand how the person who wrote the review for I Tunes says that Hummingbird and Wishful Thinking are somewhat less emotional than Tweedy's other work. Both are brilliant songs that convey Tweedy's general sense of compassion for others while not being overdramatic. The songs are emotional in their own way so stop trying to make a contest out of an artist's own work, its pathetic.

WIlco gives this away for free

I saw the other review commented on this but if you put a ghost is born in you can download it for free from their site. five stars just cause it wilco, and cause it worth five stars.

I Respect Wilco, but I'd rather Love them

I want Wilco to sound like Uncle Tupelo so much, that I listen to each instrumental section for hints of the old "alt country" sound,... but it's pretty much gone. So many of their dissonant interludes have been done by other bands "trying to find their way", and is turned into more of an exercise of seeing if listeners will follow along. If I were a paid music critic, which I'm obviously not, I might like the unexpected turns Wilco now indulges in. As it is, every new album of theirs just reminds me of their former brush with greatness, and how overjoyed I would be if they would come full circle and "rediscover" their earlier sound. I give A Ghost is Born three stars because it's more spontaneous than Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (which I give 2 stars), and because YHF pretends to be as innovative as the Marina City apartments which are depicted on that album's cover.

Wilco rose from the ashes of the seminal roots rock band Uncle Tupelo, which disbanded in 1994. Guitarist Jay Bennett rounded out the...
