So effing good
A songwriter is truly talented when they can make you feel like they wrote an entire album just for you. Every single track resonates with my personal story, and I would bet other people who listen probably feel the same way. This album plays out from the first track to the last like a journey of all the emotions we silly humans feel when it comes to love. You don't find many albums nowdays that can be enjoyed from start to finish, but this one should be listened to in one sitting. People always say Brenda Xu reminds them of Aimee Mann, and I can see that comparison, but in my eyes her songwriting surpasses Mann's by far and her style is not abrasive at all. In fact, her voice is amazingly haunting and comforting at the same time. A final note about the production: I have had the pleasure of watching Brenda perform live and have always enjoyed her shows. There is a rawness to songwriters performing live that I love. But the goal when recording is to enhance these little organic tunes and make them subtly yet effectively dynamic. The goal is achieved in this production, and you should buy it now. : )
A Great Discovery
Brenda Xu is a great singer/songwriter, I have both her albums (It's Time and A little Illusion) on my Ipod and listen to them all the time. Now I am waiting for her next album.
