Dreamiest of dream pop
The influences of the Smiths, the Sundays, MBV; they're all here in an exquisite blend of lush melody, ethereal vocals, and fuzzy guitar work. Anand and Arthi, a talented sibling duo, have made a really spectacular album, its polish and depth becoming more apparent with each listen. And while this is Fair & Kind's debut, "A Little Past Twilight" carries within it a rich history of dream pop, and it is the crème de la crème.
One of the freshest debuts of 2008!
This is a wonderous pop album filled with sparkling guitars, a deep well of melodies, thoughtful harmonies, and loads of nuance and flair. Although this album is of course instantly beautiful and catchy, it's the nuanced melodies, songwriting and production that help the album grow with mulitiple listens. Also, it may just be me but I feel like Fair and Kind have made a better album than many of their still existing influences; whether you're talking about recent releases by Death Cab For Cutie, The Dears, Stars, Broken Social Scene, or even Rilo Kiley. That is of course my opinion but as a listener to all those bands, I feel like Fair And Kind have actually made something more substantial than the recent releases by their (far more well known) influences. Congratulations to Fair And Kind!
A very strong debut - perfect for sensitive pop fans
This is good stuff. The songs warm you like a blanket and give you hope even when they're hopeless. Bravo.
