Album Review
Prior to fronting the '90s experimental indie rock band the Eels, a man called E (born Mark Everett) was making heavenly pop music on his own. This debut solo release contains typical quirky melodies and mind-boggling lyrics, but E hits upon lush harmonies similar to the likes of Elton John, the Beach Boys, and Paul McCartney. He is a perfectionist, playing every instrument and orchestrating all the material found on A Man Called E.
He's a love-sick puppy, a hopeless romantic, and a daydreamer. Such drama is captured in album highlights "Hello Cruel World," "Are You and Me Gonna Happen?," and "E's Tune." His lyrical poetry is his therapy, a common talent found in later Eels material. But you have to appreciate E's effort. He's thoughtful and almost touching. He's real. Now that's pretty refreshing.

Genius - As usual
E, Mark Everett is the man. If you like this, buy all the Eels albums, Electroshock, Beautiful Freak, the newest one, Blinking Lights. To imagine this can be achieved by one man is beyond comprehension. The others, backed by the ever-changing Eels, are no less amazing.

The Artist's name choice is an immaculate match of simplicity and smoothess. One letter, brings to your mind a blank screen, a blank slate. One note of E's artistical style will fill that slate from corner to corner. This CD is a refreshing glass of orange juice to start your morning. It is a mug of tea that sooths your bones to a rest. You will have him playing from dawn to dusk. E's voice is an instrument from the heavens. His soft yet rocky voice resembels Paul MCcartney and maybe he is the beatle in a young man's body! Inorder to be blown away, turn up those speakers and click buy, because "E" will fill your itunes!

one of my all-time favorite albums is e's broken toyshop. this one's a nice follow-up. like broken toyshop, this music is sad and beautiful. i just wish the eels would perform some of the older material.
