What a debut!
A unique blend of alt/rock, folk and jazz come crashing together to make something beautiful. A Movement Back and Forth is aptly named as Concerning Lions manages to hit you with 5 distinct movements in their music that somehow blend together in what comes across as a sweeping anthem crying out through your speakers. I can't wait for this band to release something full length. *sigh* I suppose the good news is you'll push repeat enough to make this more than a full length album. This band is serious and their music demands to be heard.
Keep it coming, guys. Can't wait to hear more.
in an ideal world all my fingers would be on my left hand so my right would be a fist for punching..
Jackhammers and nail guns, a list of things that I don’t like to listen to. Concerning Lions' EP, A Movement Back and Forth is not on this list. If I were forced to classify this purely outstanding album with a few things that I DO like to listen to it would be with sounds such as, kittens meowing, or an incredibly attractive woman speaking to me in an elvish tongue. The members of Concerning Lions did an excellent job on this album; each member pulled their weight and created twenty minutes of pure bliss. I would like to think that every morning when Bruce Wayne (Batman) wakes up and turns on his iPod, he click wheels his way straight to “Holy Africa or Canons”. For me, I feel like I would not have a problem replacing the soundtrack of The Lord of the Rings with the sweet succulent sounds of this fine piece of work. Just imagine Frodo traveling through Mordor with “Dragons” playing in the background, or wood elves walking through the forest to “Rolling Storm, Titan Sigh”, I did, and it’s amazing.
Excellent work guys! I can’t wait to hear more.
indie folk fans cant miss this one...
these 5 tracks give us a sample of what can be expected of 'Concerning Lions' in the future, and that is ...rich vocals... lyrics that tell stories.. and arrangements that range from the soulfulness of Jeff Buckley, to the indie/pop sensibilities of death cab for cutie and sufjan stevens. This is a wonderful EP, one that can be enjoyed from beginning to end, and hopefully just a taste of what 'CL' have in store for us.... highly reccomended.
