A powerful rendition of great hymns!
Take favorite hymns and express them through a trained choir and a powerful organ that expresses praise and strength and beauty and love. The listing goes on it seems forever. Here is music to lift the soul and breathe into life the beauty and hope that the heavens provide us. Living is not be be downtrodden. Let the concert for life begin! Give me hope and inspiration. Hold nothing back. Permit me to sing the praises of heaven!
Outstanding choir, but organ...
The choir is absolutely outstanding; they don't use straight tone in this recording, if that's important to you, and the sopranos certainly don't sound like the little boys that the pieces were originally written to be performed by (again, if that's important to you). They are generally spectacular (minus a few of the male altos when they sing really high).
The organ, however, is out of tune in sections (especially I Was Glad), and the organist, for whatever reason, obviously subscribes to Marcel Dupré's theory of articulation: either super legato or annoyingly staccato (this organist leans more toward the latter), which does ruin the high points in this recording.
Overall, though, a great performance, minus the terrible articulation of the organist.

it sounds beautiful, but it's hard to understand what they are saying. also, in certain sections the sound buzzes or pops, even if i turn it down a lot. i haven't had these problems with any other albums on my computer. i could tolerate the buzzing - but if you can't understand the words, what's the point? i imagine they'd be great to hear in person, but in my opinion they need to update their recording equipment.
