Customer Reviews

Alternative Press knows nothing about reviewing albums.

For anyone who happened to read the album review in Alternative Press magazine, you undoubtedly will agree that Vanna got brutally bashed. However, there is nothing that could be further from the truth than what was said in that review. Vanna has returned with their most eclectic sounding album yet. While they took a slightly different approach with a ton of melodic riffs and feel good lyrics, they have also kept to their name-sake and thrown in some brutal break downs that any fan will be glad to mosh to. This album combines the sounds of their past two (The Search Party Never Came, Curses). For those of you who appreciated that unending brutality of Curses, this album may take some getting used to. However, for any fan of Vanna, it is an album that can be listened to with pleasure.

Perfect for post-hardcore fans

If you listen to Underoath or A Day To Remember, you'll love Vanna. Even fans of the heavier Norma Jean will find some tracks incredible (such as Trashmouth). The album is definately a step forward for Boston's Vanna.

Get this album. It's heavy with the perfect amount of melodies.
Five Stars.

A New Hope

I waited some time for this album and i must say its pretty good. So, Vanna has changed their sound
a little but change is good (as they demonstrated in this album). The vocals and screams/growls
are done well. Vanna is gaining a more mature sound, not exactly mainstream. The lyrics are
heartfelt on each song and the riffs are just as good as they've ever been. A very good album.
My favorite tracks: Sleepwalker, Like Changing Seasons, The Same Graceful Wind, and Safe to Say.

Biography

Formed: 2004 in Boston, MA

Genre: Indie Rock

Years Active: '00s

Taking influence from bands like As I Lay Dying, Norma Jean, and Every Time I Die, Boston metalcore outfit Vanna was barely together a year before signing with Epitaph Records in fall 2005. Comprised of Joe Bragel (vocals), Nick Lambert (guitar/vocals), Evan Pharmakis (guitar/vocals), Brandon Davis (drums), and Shawn Marquis (bass), their music often alternated between melodic singing and visceral growling. The band parted ways with Bragel for personal reasons in February 2006, and a new vocalist,...
