When punk reared it's trendy face again in the early 90's one needed only to dig through the brush to find what was really happening in the underground to satisfy nasty perverted appetites. A handful of groups such as Texas Terri, Snap-Her, U.S. Bombs, White Trash Debutantes, Karen Black, The Mentors, and the Impotent Sea Snakes (to name just a few) were playing wild shows in and around Los Angeles to a crowd of safety pinned, urine-stained strippers and drug addicted scum bags. At the forefront of this trashed out Rock n' Roll scene was a band who tested the integrity of every Los Angeles club they ever played, Rebel Rebel.Now, here, exclusively on iTunes is a 20 song anthology. A missing link, if you will, of a time and a place where a band could get away with ALMOST anything. Rebel Rebel represents the best and the worst that Rock n' Roll has to offer. Fans of the Misfits and the Plasmatics please pay attention here.....this is what is missing from your collection! What you won't find here are the chainsaws, the strobe lights, the dead animals, the strippers, the 4 foot bonfires burning holes in the venue's dance floor, the wrecked T.V.'s, torn feathered pillows, and the L.A.P.D. escorting the band to the freeway with those infamous warnings "we'd better not catch you guys around here again." What you WILL find is some of the most exciting and entertaining DIY Rock n' Roll music to hit Hollywood in the last 20 years. I tell ya, kiddies, this is worth every penny.....not to mention it is a great soundtrack for the coming end of civilization!

Finally someone got around to releasing this stuff. Rebel Rebel were by far the best Punk Rock band in Hollywood. They still are. I remember finding a flyer on Hollywood Blvd. and going to check them out at Hell's Gate on Yucca. The music was fast and loud, stobe lights were flickering, and all the while the singer, Jet, with his spiked shoulder pads, 3 ft. spiked hair, and flaming dildo strapped to his cod piece, had a chick on all fours. He was spray painting "w***e" on her back and leting the audience whip her. He proceeded to smash up burning televisions with a sledge. He tore up a feathered pillow. By the time the show came to an end the place looked like a bomb had gone off. For the next several years Rebel managed to get themselves banned from every club in Los Angeles. The records were catchy, the music was great, and the image was over the top. I'm sooooo glad that this stuff is going to be more accessible. Kids need to hear this.
