Melodic Good Time Folk Rock
I have been meaning to write a review of this CD for quite a while. Part of my delay was not that I did not like it, I do. It was that I had a hard time describing the unique yet familiar sound. I could not place their influences. I almost felt I should interview these guys (I do not know them). But I do not have the time to do anything more than just post reviews these days. Fisheye has their own distinctive sound that captures a bit of of 70's pop a la Firefall but with an edgier more hip sound. Their Southern roots show on many of their songs that for some reason remind me slightly of Dickly Betts/Allman Brothers, but ultimately their happy vocals and acoustic guitar may actually be a bit more like They Must Be Giants. My favorite tunes were Prophecy Dam and Horse To Water as well as the lovely and completely change of pace Ella Jane. These guys have good energy and from the cover of A Totally Different Disaster, they definitely have a sense of humor. I look forward to hearing more from them. Check them out!
