Woody at home

Don't you worry about tomorrow; let tomorrows come and go

I would have liked to have been at these concerts, but then I'd be old or dead by now. Still, if you listen to Woody's songs you'll hear more than what became 60s folk cliches. These were folk licks before they became cliches.

Listen to Woman at Home -- musical erotica before 90s rappers desecrated the form.

Listen to Ramblin' Jack, listen to Odetta, and of course Dylan, I guess the most famous of the Guthrie devotees.

I was at the concert where this album was recorded, and will never forget it. When I-tunes was first announced I immediately started checking for this album becasue my old vinyl record was about worn out. Here it is at last. How fine! Check out the wonderful driving version of Rambling round by Odetta with the rest joining in.

A Deeper Understanding

Aside from the great performances by leading artists of the genre, listening to Woody's tribute is a fascinating peek into American culture. I like quite a bit a Rap/Hip Hop because it always speaks so honestly about the world we live in now. Woody's music did the same, and to listen to it today, I once again recognize how much things remain the same in the human condition. This is beautiful, honest music. . . the reason one likes listening to U2 or Bruce Springstein, or John Mayer, is the reason you'll enjoy these tracks.
