Album Review

Electrocute deliver a freakishly good set of sonic candy on their EP A Tribute to Your Taste. Nicole Morier and Mia Dime are quite ambitious in their craft, for their quirky new wave mix smoothly combines punk rock appeal for a white-hot debut. From the saucy synth pop of "I Love My Daddy" to the cheeky rendition of Sexual Harrassment's club hit "I Need a Freak," Electrocute are fierce in making this particular release a fashionable affair. Edgy guitar riffs add to the band's slick presentation to a small degree, but Electrocute's vocals remain center of attention. Fussy and raunchy, "Kleiner Dicker Junge" highlights their sarcastic wit for an electro-rock treat. Electrocute give new face to the Berlin underground scene while challenging the garage rock rampage with their own campy pop. It's pretty impressive.

Very cool!

SUPER AMAZING

I love Electrocute's early music for several reasons. These songs of being a sugar-high chubby-chaser with an Electra complex are catchy and contagious. The idea of a troublesome 2-member chick-band reminds me of Daria and Ghost World. The best part of this music is that Nicole and Mia have perfectly put filth and cuteness together like a reese's peanut butter cup. I miss Mia and Holly, and I hope they have new musical careers of their own(they're both adorable). I REALLY want to hear more from Electrocute, including the Double Diamond alum(US sales any time soon?)!

Nicole Morier and Mia Dame make up the eclectic electronic duo Electrocute. The funky pair hails from Berlin, mixing their own jagged dance-pop that's part Cramps, part Shangri-Las. Morier, who was born in Albuquerque, NM, grew up under the reign of her hippie Dad and her conservative Mother. The two were divorced, so Morier would spend the weekends with her Dad on the Tesuque Indian reservation where music was a part of those childhood days. In the early 1960s, the elder Morier wrote songs for Spanky...
