Meh its ok
I am a fan of flute quartets but they have some good stuff and bad stuff. WHY THE H*LL DID THEY PUT BEATS OVER THE PURCELL PIECE?!?! THEY RUINED IT!!! Other than that its pretty good, I would have given a four if they had not trashed that beautiful piece with ugly back beats!
This album has some gorgeous tracks
I only have 3 of these tracks, but they are incredibly beautiful: the Jongen, the Purcell, and the Part. I love the sound of a flute quartet, and the quartet plays these three tracks marvelously. The three are actually pretty somber in mood, which might say something about me as a listener, but they are exceptional. Another reviewer has freaked out about the beats added to the Purcell. I think it works very well. It is a repeating ostinato, so the back beats allow the players to go beyond, to make something different -- which is affective.
