Album Review

Las Vegas-based Adelitas Way's polished, chrome-laden modern rock draws its water from the same angsty, aggro-well as bands like Hinder, Godsmack, Burn Halo, Avenged Sevenfold, and Three Days Grace. Bolstered by the admittedly infectious single "Invincible," which wound its way onto the pop culture carousel through TV as the theme song for the weekly World Wrestling Entertainment Superstars show, the band's eponymous debut sizzles with rage, sex, and regret, occasionally veering into "pick yourself up and dust off your coat"-style self-improvement. Founder and lead singer Rick DeJesus sports a familiar, even-handed set of pipes that can go from full-throated metalcore scream to emo crooning at the drop of a needle, and the band kicks up enough noise to satisfy even the most dogmatic hard rock junkie, but Adelitas Way's focus is clearly on the commercial side of success, not the artistic, resulting in what feels more like a calling card than a lightning strike.

Come This Way...

Adelitas Way is a band that I have followed for over 5 years. Their lead singer Rick (DeJesus) is a hilarious softie with depth beyond his young age. The music these guys made on this Virgin debut has a magical energy to it that sinks into your skin like a wolf bite and refuses to let go until the last note of the sadly relateable track 11 ("Brother"). Beginning with a bang on the inspirationally intense "Invinceable", the wild ride continues with upbeat tracks like "Scream" and the sexually charged "Dirty Little Thing". Throw in the needed kiss-off anthem "So What If You Go" and combine it with a couple sprinklings of tender moment ballads like "Last Stand" and "Closer To You" and you've got yourself an extremely well rounded freshman effort. The men of Adelitas Way are without a doubt a band deserving of artistic recognition...but once you're lucky enough to meet them after a live show, it is then that you begin to trip on whether or not the rest of the world will ever get the chance to experience these wonderful people.

This is AWESOME!

I love this band! If you like Sick Puppies, Three Days Grace, Halestorm, ect... you will love this band! "invincible", "dirty little thing", and "scream" are really good rocking out songs, while " all falls down", "so what if i go" and " last stand" are heartfelt songs that have a punk accent to them. I would completely recommend this album for anyone who loves alterniative or rock :)

Must read review from an amazing debut!!

Here is my review from the Adelitas Way debut album: Not quite understanding why there is some negativity on these comments this album is absolutely amazing! Having seen these guys like 4 times I am never disappointed! I will go through track by track

Invincible: 10/10 - This track is Adelitas Way's rock anthem without a doubt.. Title speaks for itself.. Makes you wanna punch through walls and like no one can stop you. Really gets you pumped up!

Scream: 9.5/10 - Another good intense song, don't really understand the meaning of thus docking one point from it but it is put together well.

Dirty Little Thing - 9/10 - The name says it all doesn't it? Interesting sound to the start of the song and song thats about a guy liking the dirty side of girl, very catchy!

Last Stand 10/10 - Wow this song is just amazing.. Very well written. Its about when guy is involved with another women and is about to throw it away but realizes he is nothing without her hence the title Last Stand because he wants one last chance to make it right. Really paints a picture in my opinion.

Hate Love - 9/10 - A song pretty much about a hate/love relationship. Self explanatory really. Sounds like maybe one that Rick was in, in the past another catchy song.

So What If You Go - 10/10 - I used to not be to fond of this song but it really grew on me over time. To me what I get out this is, its about relationship and the person just can't take it anymore, the other person has everything they've ever dreamed of but the person just has to let them go for whatever reason it may be.

Closer To You - 10/10 - This is where the album really shines to me and is my favorite track... Not a fast song, but it just really speaks to me. Ever been that guy, where you don't know if the girl likes you and you would do anything to be with her and hope shes likes you back? well thats what this song is.. Very nice vocals and well put together solo, just awesome!!

Just a Little Bit - 8.5/10 - Probably the weakest off the album for me, kind of struggle with the meaning of this as well. But none the less still a good song.

All Falls Down - 10/10 - All Falls Down, wow what to say about this song. Paints a perfect picture yet again. its makes you just wish that you would cherish all the good moments that you have had in your life because there's also moments where your life can be quite bad too.

My Derailment - 10/10 - Here is a very upbeat song, great song to listen to when you're angry and keith does very well with the backgrounds here and it just flows nicely. Pretty much one someone backstabs you and thinks your nothing. You just want to move on and want them out of your life because they're holding you down. Top 5 track for me.

Brother - 10/10 - Wow just wow, the first time I heard this song it made me cry and I still get chills to this day after many listens.. Very slow song about Ricks brother who is addicted to drugs. He made it so he would change but so far he hasn't. this song will probably mean a lot to very many.. Whether its a brother, sister, family member, friend someone you hardly know it'll touch you.

All in all I give this album a 9.5/10 it is one of the most stand-out debut albums i have ever heard if not the best debut of the last 5-10 years, so If love great rock go out and buy it! If you just want a little taste here are my top tracks:

Top 6 tracks

1. Closer To You
2. My Derailment
3. Brother
4. All Falls Down
5. Last Stand
6. Invincible
