The Beauty of Advent
This is an amazing album. If you are a fan of Sufjan Steven's "Songs for Christmas"and if you enjoyed Starfield's Christmas takes, then you'll definitely appreciate Sojourn's Advent Songs! First, you've got Joy to the World, which is a lovely rendition of the traditional carol. Other favorites are Hosanna in the Highest, What Child is This, and O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. Simply beautiful folk-rock Christmas music!
Great Christmas CD
I recently purchased this CD and I have been very blessed by it. The new melody of Joy to the World is very beautiful in its simplicity. The original songs like Glory Be and God be With Us are very modern and would fit very well in any contemporary Christmas worship set. Well-written Christmas songs are very important to church worship services because they point to Christ and why He came. These original songs do that very well. I highly recommend this CD to everyone but especially to worship leaders who are always on the look out for new Christmas music.
Beautiful Christmastime
I got this album for free on noisetrade.com, a fair trade music site. I really like it. It reminds me of Jars of Clay's Christmas Songs album which came out about the same time. Also reminds me a bit of Smalltown Poets especially on "God is With Us". Very pretty and catchy Christmas songs. Definitely not the same boring interpretations many artists have put out in the past. If you like Jars of Clay you will like this album for sure!
