impressions
anni rossi first touched my life by nearly touching my eye with her bow. at some party she decided to play several years ago. i had no idea there was to be such a show, as i turn around out of the kitchen a bow appears before me and she begins. i dodged the first attack and froze until the set was done. i may have avoided the bow but her music struck me with a force beyond that of the physical realm. half blind and half reborn. pay attention.

A classically trained viola player and multi-instrumentalist, Anni Rossi launched a songwriting career in her early twenties, drawing comparisons to Joanna Newsom and other equally anachronistic musicians. Using the viola to guide her way through folk-classical-pop songs like "Wheelpusher," not to mention her unique Internet-based take on Radiohead's "Creep," Rossi built up a small following in 2007.
