I realize taste is subjective...

but I still fail to realize how anyone willing to take time out of their day to sit down and listen to this LP could dislike it. I feel that this is an album that no one should attempt to categorize or place within some sort of genre or movement, as I struggle to think of any other artist that makes similar music; to find out what Sigur Ros sounds like, they must listen for themselves. I don't condone purchasing individual tracks off of this LP as it comes together as a cohesive unit, but 'Olsen Olsen' is probably the most gorgeous thing I've heard in quite a while.

Just a thought

Not really a comment on just the album, but their sound as a whole is very complex and sometimes uncomfortable and I think it turns some people off. If they would take the the time and actually listen to the music, they probably still couldn't grasp what this band is about. If you looking for something to tell a story or comfort you. This isn't it. Their music is the background and it's up to the listener in most cases to write their own song . To say you have to try and like this band is akin to a parent telling a child to enjoy their broccoli. Its kinda difficult at first but, one day he/or she will understand, and their lives will be better for it.

Named in part after a sister of one of the bandmembers, Reykjavik, Iceland's Sigur Rós (Victory Rose) was formed by guitarist and vocalist Jon Thor Birgisson (who later went by the name Jónsi), bassist Georg Holm, and drummer Agust. Formed in early 1994 while the members were teenagers, the trio's first recorded song earned them a deal with Iceland's Bad Taste label. Their sprawling debut LP, Von (Hope), was released in 1997, followed the next year by a collection of remixes from that album, Recycle...
