The Last Shadow Puppets--SUCCESS!

First of all, I can't believe for once that we actually have more stuff than the U.K. iTunes has right now! The U.K. iTunes is only selling the single, but check this out, we have the video AND some b-sides! I don't mean to gloat, but now THEY know how I feel on a regular basis! haha Okay here's my review: 1. The Age of the Understatement- this is an excellent debut single. It completely drags you in, it's almost hypnotizing. It's recieved lots of comparisons to Muse's Knights of Cydonia, and I can see where that comes from but also it has a very distinct sound...it's very different than anything the Monkeys or The Rascals make. Very dark and mysterious. I like it. 2. Two Hearts In Two Weeks- fast, catchy, upbeat (even though the lyrics go "he knows where you hide..."). They also sing through a voice filter-type thing which makes it more intriguing. 3. Wondrous Place- Cover of Billy Fury. Didn't know that at first. It's a really good cover. 4. In the Heat of the Morning- also a cover, of David Bowie. It's nice. Alex Turner also once said this is one of his favorite songs, so it's cool that he likes it and he can make a really good cover. All in all, an excellent EP. I'm very excited for the album, it's going to be amazing...good job Miles and Alex =) oh and P.S. the video is really funny! They look exactly alike at times!

i've been looking forward to this for a while

the age of the understatement is a really catchy tune that will be running through your head constantly. it has a great, unique sound. the album has the same name for a reason. two hearts in two weeks is interesting. alex and miles kept on describing their songs as "epic" and now i see why. i like it. wonderous place is very good. miles' voice is amazing in it. in the heat of the morning is a catchy tune and alex and miles did a good job with it. overall, i really liked this single and i'm definitely looking forward to the album! i applaud the last shadow puppets.

should hold you over til the next Monkeys album

I agree with arcticclover. I'm truly blown away that the US iTunes has all of the B-sides while the UK only has the single. 99% of the time it's the other way around, so I'm extremely pleased to see this. Overall the songs are great with definite influences from the Monkeys and the Rascals. The 2 standouts are "The Age of the Understatement" and "Wondrous Place". I can't wait for the album to come out!
