Album Review

Although his personal life was plagued with troubles during the late '80s, Steve Earle wrote a wealth of first-rate songs during that time and the majority of those tunes are collected on the double-disc set Ain't Ever Satisfied. Spanning his career from 1985's Guitar Town to 1991's Shut Up and Die Like an Aviator, Ain't Ever Satisfied hits nearly every high point. It's an excellent retrospective, illustrating exactly why Earle was one of the most acclaimed country singer/songwriters of the latter half of the '80s.

BRILLIANCE AND EXTRAORDINARY ARTISTIC ABILITY. I'm inspired by this man's success after all the life struggles that he dealt with, some self inflicted however other problems elsewhere for years and years. This MAN had the strength to overcome his short comings and continue to concentrate on something that would inspire and uplift the souls of humanity around this world. I wish we could alll have just a touch Steve's sense of this world and his courage. What a brilliant talented person! I wish I knew the the guy personally. what an inspiration!

In the strictest sense, Steve Earle isn't a country artist; he's a roots rocker. Earle emerged in the mid-'80s, after Bruce Springsteen had popularized populist rock & roll and Dwight Yoakam had kick-started the neo-traditionalist movement in country music. At first, Earle appeared to be more indebted...
