Alaskan Summer
Hey, listen up! No popping pills for this indie-pop couple, their music is already good medicine. Don’t know who mixed, and mastered the EP, but they laid some snappy tracks… soft and sexy to lighting-hot. Better grab it up; cause here’s an independent that won’t be Indie for long.
not what you're expecting
The first thing that jumped out at me when I looked at the track listing was the split track, "If You Fall Asleep." Based on what I'd heard about this band (pop songs, 50% indie, 50% retro), I couldn't understand what the the point of splitting a track would be. After downloading and listening, I totally got it. Part I is a well-crafted pop song and Part II takes the listener into an unexpected (and really catchy) instrumental jam. And that's pretty much what you get on every track of this EP... all good songs, and just when you think you've figured them out, they carry you into unexpected territory. Totally worth a listen.
It's in the grooves
In my many years selling music in stores, we used to love hot releases like this. We'd wait for a store full of people, then pop it in and wait. One by one folks would wander to the counter and ask "What's that you're playin'"? Music this good always made my job easier. I can't wait for the full CD. Check it out and enjoy! Besides, what's better than turning your friends onto a great new band they never heard of.....
