A new favorite voice
Angela Ortiz has a soft, beautiful voice--Everyone Changes and We Must Be Alright are great. Her music reminds me of Tori Amos.
Beautiful album
I can't stop listening to this CD. Ortiz is such a great, original songwriter with a beautiful voice to boot. I like the way she uses all sorts of different instruments in each song, ones you wouldn't normally find on a pop CD.
What a find!
I discovered Angela Ortiz at Tulsa's Diversafest this year -- what a gem! Such a pure, beautiful voice over well crafted tunes. A few songs have band orchestration and showcase great groove, rhythmic interplay between melodic instruments, and beautiful horn harmony arrangements. Angela's piano work is very tasty on this record -- "Mr. Thomas" is simply beautiful and "Finish What You Started" has an attention-getting 4-against-6 rhythm between piano and drums. Very catchy. I'm so glad I got to hear Angela at D-Fest -- a must-listen.
