Album Review

Remember the old days, when the majority of metal acts sang about partaking in the perfect party? Somewhere along the way, it became all about unleashing your inner demons and/or teetering on the brink of insanity. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world of Rikets — a band that is equal parts metal and industrial/electronic, but which never shies away from screaming and hollering its head off. And this is certainly the case throughout their 2010 full-length debut, All American Death Cult. In fact, the album starts off with tracks that alternate between the aforementioned styles, as evidenced by "Designer Drug Hell" and "The Murder" (which sounds like vintage Nine Inch Nails), plus "Program the Dead" and "Vicious" (which sounds like vicious metal). And it turns out that singer "Scott" (don't you just love bands that go with a first names?) has no problem adapting his vocal delivery to the appropriate style, going from Trent Reznor à la "Closer" one minute, to Phil Anselmo à la "I'm Broken" the next. And wouldn't you know it, there's even a tune or two that combines both styles/approaches, most obviously "Sold Me Out" (picture "Trent" on the verse, "Phil" on the chorus...you get the idea). While some young headbangers may be intrigued by the mish-mash of styles on All American Death Cult, it turns out that it's been done before elsewhere — namely Rob Halford's late-‘90s one-off industrial-metal project, Two (which just happened to be produced by Reznor himself).

Your on CRACK

You are so misinformed for one, for two they have had the cover recorded since 2007,seasons after opened for RIKETS in SEASONS AFTER"S HOMETOWN and then Seasons After shows up mysteriously with a washed up autotuned job on the song and ruined it. At least RIKETS version is true to the original AND has the original singer/songwriter singing on the song with them! And they were FIRST. Before aiden's as well. Their version of it was made for the lostboys2 movie, WITH the original singer/songwriter Gerard Mcmann. When RIKETS didnt have a label to release it on, a handful of bands heard about the cover and Aiden slided into the movie. Funny how one person who's so uniformed can instantly think they know everything about a band they obviously know nothing about.

2010's Best Album

I've waited so patiently for this album to finally be released. And the wait was worth it. This debut (or sophmore effort if your consider the EP a full release) is an in-your-face experience from start to finsh, evenly balanced between the heavy and melodic. This band's musical growth is very apparent on this new record. Standout tracks are "Designer Drug Hell", "End Of My Suffering", and one wicked cover of the Lost Boys theme "Cry Little Sister". There should be no question in your mind right now. If you love metal and hard rock, buy this album now!!! Also, if these guys roll through your town anytime soon, I highly advise you to go see them. They are a great live act.

REGODDAMNDICULOUS!

So go buy it now!!!!!!!
