All Hope Is Gone took Slipknot four years to make because the masked mephistos were busy with other evil endeavors. Singer Corey Taylor and guitarrorist Jim Root found success with side project Stone Sour and drummer Joey Jordison worked with Ministry, Korn, 3 Inches Of Blood, and percussionist Shawn Crahan's band Dirty Little Rabbits. But don't think that All Hope Is Gone sounds like Slipknot have been spread thin — the outside experience gave their sinister sound more musical strength, making for an album that is darker, deeper, harder, and more possessed than their predecessors. It's the first time all members were involved in the songwriting. The experimental noise collage of ".Execute." crescendos into the opening track "Gematria (The Killing Name)," a brutal onslaught of pummeling rhythms and guitar artillery that catapults the anti war lyrics. "Psychosocial" delivers brutally heavy drums that march alongside monstrous guitar riffs contrasting with a melodic chorus of powerful anti-occupation rhymes. And with a fierce title track and three exclusive iTunes bonus songs, this one's going to be hard to top.

Amazing! It's Slipknot.
At first I questioned the Stone Sour esque of this album but as I listened to it more, I found that It is still the best band in the world but every band evolves in some way. It is so amazing what these guys can do! Their music can get me though anything! Here is my examination of the album: Execute: Nice opening track, Great way to start it off Gematria (The Killing Name): This is Slipknot! Heavier and thrash included Sulfur: This is an amazing song, Very Slipknot with a touch of Stone Sour but of course with a Slipknot twist to it. Psychosocial: What can you say about this track? Best track on the album! You can go absolutely crazy to this! Dead Memories: This is my third favorite song next to “All Hope is Gone”. So much meaning! Truly amazing. Vendetta: Very Slipknot, great song! Butcher's Hook: Sounds like Iowa with a new sound . Again, another great. Gehenna: The chous is very different, I guess I have to grow into it. This Cold Black: Sounds like old Slipknot but Thrashier. Wherein Lies Continue: Haven’t listened to it much but it is good. Snuff: This is the “Vermillion” or “Circle” of this album. So AMAZING! All Hope is Gone: Amazing, Second favorite on this album. Child of Burning Time: Very good Til We Die: Also like a Vermillion but also amazing!

first off... dont hate on something u dont understand, secondly, im guessing u were from around the KISS/ GWAR era...how different is SlipKnot from them? they all wear masks (facepaint in KISSes case), they all have wild shows, and unforgetable classics. if u got a problem with some band having a better life than u then thts ur problem, but dont be going around, looking for top sellers then telling everyone "oh yeah, this su c k s, dont buy, its pointless etc" i'd like to c u play songs like people = sh it, or Spit It Out. u r obviously the one with the issues, not Americas teenagers, and its because of people like u tht SlipKnot is around, i feel bad for anyone tht has to live with u, and its also because of people like you tht we listen to SlipKnot, KoRn, Otep etc, THEY GREW UP AROUND PEOPLE LIKE U, THEY KNOW WHAT UR ABOUT SO THEYRE MESSAGE IS THAT NO ONE IS ALONE IN A SITUATION LIKE ANYONE WHO HAS TO DEAL WITH U!!!!!
