iTunes Review
All Hope Is Gone took Slipknot four years to make because the masked mephistos were busy with other evil endeavors. Singer Corey Taylor and guitarrorist Jim Root found success with side project Stone Sour and drummer Joey Jordison worked with Ministry, Korn, 3 Inches Of Blood, and percussionist Shawn Crahan's band Dirty Little Rabbits. But don't think that All Hope Is Gone sounds like Slipknot have been spread thin — the outside experience gave their sinister sound more musical strength, making for an album that is darker, deeper, harder, and more possessed than their predecessors. It's the first time all members were involved in the songwriting. The experimental noise collage of ".Execute." crescendos into the opening track "Gematria (The Killing Name)," a brutal onslaught of pummeling rhythms and guitar artillery that catapults the anti war lyrics. "Psychosocial" delivers brutally heavy drums that march alongside monstrous guitar riffs contrasting with a melodic chorus of powerful anti-occupation rhymes. And with a fierce title track and three exclusive iTunes bonus songs, this one's going to be hard to top.

All Hope is NOT gone with this album
I laugh at the kids who feel the need to rag on an extremely talented band who continues to re-invent themselves. Corey has amazing vocals and range and there is nothing wrong with exploiting his great voice. The rest of the guys have just as amazing talent. Joey doesnt disappoint and Mick and Jim are doing exactly what I wanted them to do and thats create heavy, exciting, and different-from-everyone-else riffs. I dont know about all of you kids, but Im tired of the same sounding BS out there where you can hardly distinguish between the bands. Yes they are talented but you can only go so far and so long sounding like everyone else. Im happy Slipknot is still around, writing music, and stunning the critics. They arent afraid of writing great, entertaining, NEW music. Those who continue to mock and put down Slipknot are just envious that a band like this is still around and still creates madness everywhere they go. Keep it up Slipknot and I will be here forever. Been a fan since 1997. The SICness is in me and my wife.
Dominant
This is the best Slipknot album yet. Slipknot is one of the most unique bands I have ever heard or seen, but at the same time they dominate all other bands or artists. The whole idea of wearing masks and never revealing their actual faces is very unique and draws lots of attention. Slipknot is definitely one of the best bands of this era, and this is definitely the most vital album released this year. “All Hope Is Gone” is a great song. It sounds like something that you would find on their 2002 release “Iowa.” This song is hard rock through the whole song. It definitely doesn’t let you down, and it holds the title of the album. My personal favorite, “Psychosocial,” is probably my favorite song ever created by Slipknot. It has the hard rock bridges and kicks into a softer but still hard chorus, then kicks into more hard rock right after the chorus. I also enjoyed “Butcher’s Hook,” and “This Cold Black.” As you probably know, Disturbed released an album earlier this year, titled “Indestructible.” “All Hope Is Gone” is definitely a better album than “Indestructible,” with only two hits “Indestructible” and “Inside the Fire.” People often compare Disturbed to Slipknot and Slipknot is by far the better band. “All Hope Is Gone” is a great album, but their previous releases like “Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses,” “Iowa,” and “Slipknot,” their debut album, are all great as well. To sum it all up, you won’t regret buying this album. It is worth your every penny.
Slipknots Best!!!!
ok this cd is slipknot's best so far, it doesn't sound like vol. 3 or Iowa it has its own feel. It is ALOT more brutal and heavy. mic thompson's drop d low tuned guitar riffs and almost all these songs have solos the only one that i remember from before is pulse of the magots. Also Joey Jordison's pulsing double bass and crazy fills add alot to the music. and also corey taylor is alot more brutal and has more of a screaming feel. slpiknot's changed but not too much and for the better. also (off topic) their new masks are the best yet. ok to finish it of the order of tracks from best to worst 1.Sulfur 2.This Cold Black 3.Butcher's Hook 4. Dead Memories 5. Wherein Lies Continue 6. Vendetta 7. Gehenna 8. Gematria (The Killing Name) 9. Psychosocial 10. Snuff (Slipknot usually does a slow kind of creepy song towards the end of the album this is it) 11. All Hope Is Gone (I didn't include execute because thats the intro to the album and i dont consider that a song) ALL HOPE IS GONE!!!
