Album Review
While it might not do much to dispel the stereotype of the drunken Irishman, this compilation offers some zesty renditions of drinking songs by masters of the form, nicely remastered from the Vanguard vaults. Joined by the likes of Robbie O'Connell and Lou Killen, the Clancy Brothers are in fine, lusty form.

Don't think this is all Clancy/Makem
If your goal is to hear the great Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, this is not a good recording for you. Only the cuts from # 21 on are theirs, and they are very early recordings from the Tradition Record years. Look for releases from Columbia/Sony. They are much more representative of the group in their prime.
Pretty, but very sedate
This album is one of the most mellow collections of irish drinking songs that I have ever come across. It lacks the boisterous and effervescent energy that these songs usually have when performed. However, the voices are still quite beautiful and the songs entertaining. So if you are looking for a more smooth jazz version of irish drinking songs, this is your album.

This is a fantastic value! 48 great Irish songs for less than 8 bucks. Hard to go wrong here.
