iTunes Review

The final studio album from the original Descendents before singer Milo Aukerman left the group and the remaining members formed All, All, the album, is the group’s most accomplished. The nearly non-existent four-second-long tracks, “All” and “No, All!,” play towards the group’s silly side, but a masterful pop tune such as “Coolidge” makes for a powerful punk-pop experience with vocal harmonies, crunching guitars and Bill Stevenson’s out-of-control drums coming together to create the blueprint for all future mainstream punk acts. “Van” emphasizes the group’s musical chops and sounds like a progressive rock band attempting to slide past as a punk group. The cool funk intro of “Cameage” flattens out for the steamrolling chorus. “Impressions” suggests the moody introspection of grunge. But it’s “Clean Sheets” that steals the spotlight with a tune so catchy and a lyric so sadly desperate that it’s positively criminal the band never made it beyond cult status. Future reunions led to sell-out crowds, but back in the ‘80s, the band was merely a footnote to most.

The Track list is all messed up!!!

First, this album is amazing. By far the best that they ever recorded. I love "Milo Goes to College" as much as the next person, but I listen to this album more. Second, the track listing is all screwed up. The song "uranus" isn't on iTunes, although it is listed. If you want the song "Jealous of the world" than download Uranus. If you want "Clean Sheets" than download "Jealous of the world". And finally, if you want "Pep Talk" than download "clean sheets." Somehow, the track listing got screwed up, as Pep Talk isn't listed, although that is what you get if you download Clean Sheets. Until iTunes fixes this issue, than follow this list.

HEY itunes people!!!

You have the track listing wrong!! All that money and you can't handle the simplest quality control issue?!

Want Pep Talk? Download Clean Sheets.

Great, great album, as Descendents are playing at a level light years ahead of most of the hair bands of the era technically and in terms of pure songwriting. If you're looking for Pep Talk, as I was, you might try gambling $0.99 on Clean Sheets, as the song titles are all wrong. It worked for me, and I got the song I've been waiting for for years, but who knows when iTunes will fix this? If you want Clean Sheets I don't know what to tell you...

Fueled by "rejection, food, coffee, girls, fishing and food," the Descendents sprang up during the halcyon days of the Los Angeles punk scene; fusing the blind rage of hardcore with an unexpectedly wry, self-deprecating wit and a strong melodic sensibility which set them distinctly apart from their West Coast brethren, they gradually emerged as one of the most enduring and adored bands of their time. Formed in 1979, the Descendents' first lineup consisted of vocalist/guitarist Frank Navetta, vocalist/bassist...
