Allons Danser

Allons Danser finds Zack in a New Orleans frame of mind (circa 1979), playing behind the beat and channeling The Wild Tchoupitoulas, Professor Longhair, Dr. John, The Meters and Aldus Roger. The song Allons Danser kicks off this funky set with an invitation to dance “in the tender part of the sweet night.” Flammes D’enfer, a traditional Cajun song, sets the house on fire with a mixture of brass and accordion –a killer reed fest for you music lovers out there. Pauv’ T*t Nèg’ speaks of poverty and New Orleans. Colinda is funk. Viens Nous Rejoind’ and Handa Wanda find Zack covering New Orleans classics en français, while Mama Rosin makes you want to tango. Watch out for Meter-man George Porter’s solid bass work on Y’a Queque Chose, Ton Ton Gris Gris’ voodoo frenzy and the heavenly Gospel sounds of Antibon Legbo. A rare, funky treat from the Z-man.
