iTunes Review
With 2009’s Lonely Road, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus treated the recording studio like a changing room, trying on different musical genres to see what fit best. Their third album finds them wearing the post-hardcore pop of their first album like a pair of broken-in jeans. And though 2011’s Am I the Enemy sounds like rock ‘n’ roll rebellion on the surface, the lyrics flirt with studied biblical themes. Check out the fire and brimstone spewing single “Reap” which ferociously pounds the pulpit like a futuristic preacher with lip piercings. Conversely, “Salvation” opens the album on more uplifting themes, setting the tone with ascending melodies and a lyrical sense of spiritual triumph. And check out Ronnie Winter’s singing — here he’s exercising restraint while expanding his vocal range — especially on those harmonies. “Dive Too Deep” spotlights the band’s ballad building prowess. Eschewing melodrama for vulnerability and confessional lyrics, it’s the most mature track on the album. “Forever Numb” is the catchiest of the bonus tracks.

Pure RJA
The reason I say prue is because they are doing what they want. Now with their independent efforts they have no record label to suppress their creativity. Let's face it, Lonely Road was not as good as Don't You Fake It and it was due to their label telling them they had to make a specific sound. Now that is far gone and they have come out strong with their third album, Am I The Enemy. It is indeed pure RJA. Showcasing their history in former metal bands with more screams, heavier guitars, and a solid performance all around. If this is what the independent scene is doing for RJA then keep them coming!
All-around great album!
First of all, this is one heck of a deal! 14 tracks and two lyric videos for just 10 bucks, how can you NOT buy this? Anyway, I have loved these guys for 5 years, seen them live 4 times, and have enjoyed every single one of their releases. This album encompasses everything that is great about RJA and adds some new elements as well, such as the electronic sounds. This album is very solid and it is great to see that RJA is alive and well without their major label. I especially love how a majority of the songs are about God, or at least mention Him. I'm glad to see Ronnie (and the rest of the band, I presume?) not being ashamed of their faith and speaking up more on this record. Stand-out tracks to me are Salvation, Wake Me Up, Dive Too Deep, and Fall From Grace. Keep up the good work guys!
RJAs only crime is that the album is too good!!
Great great album! No complaints here!!! However im a little dissapointed that itunes didnt have the "complete my album" option for those of us who had already purchased Reap! Im gonna have to change my other copy's title to Rip...OFF!!
