Here we go again...

As an avid Van Morrison fan, I always am excited to see a new release. These songs, at least when they are touted as a "new release" have become a bit of a joke. This is another release of the same old Bang Masters songs Van recorded early in his career when he was with the Bang label. The songs were recorded about a year before the iconic "Astral Weeks" and have been released time and time again with different album titles. Originally released as "Blowin' Your MInd, then subsequently as "Super Hits," "New York Sessions," "Bang Masters," and now "AM Gold." It's a little ironic that Van never intended for these songs to be on an album, but rather, expected them to be released as singles, one of which was his most played song "Brown Eyed Girl." The songs are certainly enjoyable but are most certainly not "new." Three stars because it is, after all, Van the Man, and the re-recordings are clean and crisp.

Oh No!

Why do they keep putting out the same recycled stuff with different album names?
Why doesn't iTunes have the new Live Astral Weeks from LA?
Where is Veedon Fleece?

Not Again

This is once again a rerelease of the Bang recordings. For the umptenth time!
The fidelity is better but not enough to warent yet another release.
For beginners only.

Equal parts blue-eyed soul shouter and wild-eyed poet-sorcerer, Van Morrison is among popular music's true innovators, a restless seeker whose incantatory vocals and alchemical fusion of R&B, jazz, blues, and Celtic folk produced perhaps the most spiritually transcendent body of work in the rock & roll canon. Subject only to the whims of his own muse, his recordings cover extraordinary stylistic ground yet retain a consistency and purity virtually unmatched among his contemporaries, connected...
