Absolutely Spellbinding
Charles Tomlinson Griffes is one of the
most underrated composers of all time. A wonderful example of American impressionism, the influence of Debussy is evident, but never overbearing or too much. Anyone who likes this should also check out "Griffes: The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Khan". His orchestral works are just as lovely: incredibly intelligent, yet still accessible. It's such a shame he died at 35.
