Brilliant arrangement of "Under the Boardwalk"

     

These guys do some nice creative arrangements on well known pop tunes. Unlike a lot of a capella groups, they don't just set out to imitate the original, and they don't make fun of the songs, either. They sing seriously and masterfully. The sound and arrangements impressed me more than AC Rock or Rockapella (comparable groups). The real standout on this album, IMHO, is Under the Boardwalk. They do it with a cha cha feel, but it comes off so natural, that I had to wonder if the original was the same style. I've recently listened to about 20 renditions of that song, and this one is by far my favorite. A capella fans will immediately recognize the strong bass, the skillful vocal percussion, and the crisp recording. My only complaint is that a few of the songs are a little corny, but I guess that's par for the course when covering motown.
