Radiohead's third best record...

While most people drool over and cling to OK Computer like zombies I find that The Bends is a much better record. While I would put OK Computer as their second best record, I find myself having a hard time not considering this record as artistically challenging as OK Computer. Amnesiac has some of Radiohead's best use of electronica and some of the best choruses the group has ever written. Maybe the sparseness and dark textures turn a lot of people off, but I think a good pair of headphones turn those qualities into a positive. The other great thing about Amnesiac is the way each track seamlessly glides into the next. Listening to this album in it's entirety only makes it that much stronger. Plus the song Knives Out is a tribute to Englands greatest guitarist: Johnny Marr.

best Radiohead album

This reviewer is obviously another one of the OKC-Kid A worshipping morons who doesn't like anything but that. truly great record, easily surpasses Kid A and earlier work. Check out In Rainbows or TKOL for more like this.

Quietly Piercing

To me, this is by far the best album they have ever put together. Honestly, this is one of the best all time albums of my life. From the shrowd of secrecy leading to the release to the very select few that actually got that special edition. This album is normally not raved about, sometimes never really heard about and judging by some of the previous reviews different enough to be defined as 'true fan' worthy. If you have listened to this one, you know what I mean and if you have not, it is certainly worth the time.

Any way you want to break it down will never do it justice; basically this album is special in a powerful way. Sure, I liked OKC but it was not the end all be all by any means. Any group is going to have that one that put them on the map because otherwise they would never had the opportunity to create the following albums. This album is slightly outside the general field of vision and I can only assume those who have given negative reviews were never really listening. Be constructive with your blues.

Biography

Formed: 1989 in Oxford, England

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Radiohead were one of the few alternative bands of the early '90s to draw heavily from the grandiose arena rock that characterized U2's early albums. But the band internalized that epic sweep, turning it inside out to tell tortured, twisted tales of angst and alienation. Vocalist Thom Yorke's pained lyrics were brought to life by the group's three-guitar attack, which relied on texture — borrowing as much from My Bloody Valentine and Pink Floyd as R.E.M. and Pixies — instead of virtuosity....
