It's NOT the same as Owl City
While Sky Sailing is very similar to Owl City, Adam Young has created two distinct sounds that sound similar while being able to be completely different. While Young's voice sounds the same over the two projects, the instrumentals differ greatly between the two. Owl City has a much more electronic sound and a more up-beat sound, where Sky Sailing offers a calmer sound and is largely a guitar and vocal effort. Songs such as 'A Little Opera Goes a Long Way' and 'Brielle' are strong examples that display the difference in sound from Owl City.
'An Airplane Carried Me to Bed' is a fantastic album that reflects Young's passion for music. Its has a calming, almost dream-like sound that is hard to resist. Most Owl City fans will buy this immediately; however, Sky Sailing does not differ enough for listeners who did not much care for Owl City's style to change their mind.
Overall a very solid album.
BEFORE there was owl city...
This was Adam Young's very first project so he was still young and he didn't have as many resources as he did with his recent albums. This project was done a long time ago but it wasnt until recently that he decided to touch it up and release it. All of the work that Adam Young does is amazing and i support him and his sense of optimism.

I have been a true OC fan every since he came out with OC. And listening to his side projects, I thought this was amazing. I have to buy this album.! You rock Adam!
P.S. This is NOT OC. This is Sky Sailing, Adam's first side project, before OC. So I bet some of you guys just saw the front page and came here.
