Poxy Boggards: Anchor Management The Poxy Boggards are known the world over for singing and playing the funnest, nastiest, catchiest songs in a loose, rollicking style and they have been making Renaissance Faire audiences blush for many a year now. That side of the Boggards is well represented here. If you want the Junior High humor check out the songs with the popularity bars (basically ‘side two’). To round out the mischief I would also recommend “My Bess” and “Junk Wash Stomp” (which aint about antiques). If you get all the superbly naughty stuff on the album ala carte you’ve spent 9 bucks. So why not blow the extra dollar and get the whole friggin’ album? Because here’s the secret of the Boggards: They really can sing good when they feel like it. Excellent voices, harmonies, arrangements and a wide range of material. The traditional songs on this album (basically ‘side one’) are lovely, lively and dare I say, sentimental? So play “Nellie the Mermaid” and “Tender Love Ballad” at your next party, but keep “Red, Red Rose” and “I’d Rather Be Sailing” for yourself. It’ll be your little secret.
