Wow
Just bought this for the hell of it and hell is exactly where this place takes you. Dark, demonic music and you do not even have to understand what they are saying to realize what journey this band is taking you on. Not for simplistic minded metal fans who complain the songes are too long.
Not for the casual metalhead
This album sounded dark upon preview, but on purchase and listen I realized it was the darkest shade of midnight and more. Andacht will take you through hell in a more complex way than you would think, taking you to subterannean (can't spell that) lakes of strange beauty, whisking you through pitch dark vallies, and plummeting you into absolute darkness as deep as you can possibly imagine. Fast, dark riffs and a suprisingly natural sounding drum machine blaze you through your journey while the synth crafts soundscapes. The audio quality of the synth is astounding, through Ipod headphones it sounds like it's coming directly out of your brain. This is absolutely chilling when taken into effect with songs like Der Pakt and Das Ende. Gluck puts you on a journey and shows you glimpses of mysterious beauty. Findling plummets you into utter despair and pain yet it washes away the world around you. Der Pakt speeds you through long mysterious passages while showing you hell is not so simple as fire and screams. Das Ende throws a torterous wall of a soundscape agiainst you and reminds you hell is not for the frail. Highly reccomended for nights spent lying in the dark and losing yourself in thoughts. When you get this offering, you're not buying an album, you're ripping open the earth and tearing a hellishly dark essence of true darkness out of what lies below.
