Animanatomy, Anatomy of
The Slant hit all the right chords with their iTunes debut. In every sense, the album is at once poignant and clever. With such depth in all parts of the process - from layering to lyrical composition - there is proof-in-concept, likely convincing audience members The Slant are much more seasoned at their craft. The Slant have taken the folk genre and added their own brushstrokes, creating something both familiar and refreshing. "Together Again" is typical of the band as new aural treats greet the listener as the song develops. On the same token, "Came and Went" lightens the mood a bit as the listener falls into the blues guitar, thoughtful percussion, and melodic harmonica. This young band has the makings of a true success – the future of folk is here.
