It's OK.
Another Way to Die is obviously Disturbed's lead single from their new album, Asylum. The song starts with a slow, out-of-nature intro that overall is detrimental to the song's impact. The rocking lead riff then enters, and like usual, it rocks. Mike's drum work is as solid as ever, as well as John's bass. However, I find David really lacking here. His poetic qualities are lacking, and he often repeats "Another way to die" and "Will we repent in time?" at the end of most phrases, like he ran out of things to say. Which is another issue. The song is about man's irresponsible use of resources creating "another way to die." But the song doesn't pick an issue and stick with it; it's too general to make any impact. A complete polar opposite of 2008's Inside the Fire, which was a very specific song in the matter of subject, and impacted rock radio harshly. This song will not have that same impact. The subject matter is not strong enough, and the song itself is lacking hooks. To compound, it seems to be schizophrenic: The legato intro doesn't fit the staccato first verse; the chorus is legato, but matching the style of the verses, delivering a mix of the intro and verses, again in contrast to the verses' staccato delivery though; the bridge follows the intro's way and slows down the tempo massively, and Dan's guitar solo is unimpressive. This song, while decent, simply isn't excellent.

Good things to come
Wow, when I first heard that disturbed was coming out with a new album I was excited (of course) but my expectations were not very high. They had revived alot of airplay for their last album, so I figured it would still be good, but they would have sold out. Not even close. This song has a very intense sound, one I wasn't sure they could pull off. The vocals are slightly different, but for what I feel a good way. They sound more mature and raw, much less processed, which I like alot. I am definately excited for their upcoming album, if they can maintain this kind of intensity and sound, it will be a real good one.
